Conservative Blog Reporting on Media Bias and the Liberal Agenda

Peacock has long believed that people will meet your expectations.

Ronald Reagan’s expectations of Americans were high. Through him we finally shook ourselves loose from the lingering malaise of the Vietnam War and began to believe again in our greatness. American morale improved quickly and our great American machine started humming again. He believed enough in each of us that he wanted dramatically less government and more reliance on the individual.

Obama’s expectations of Americans are clearly very low. Time after time he has talked about how we have created problems around the world and how injustice is common within our country. His comments work to lower our morale and our faith in ourselves. He believes so little in each of us that he is aggressively creating a larger government that is restricting our freedoms more and more.

Peacock and Spouse took the long over road trip to the Glenn Beck Restoring Honor Rally on August 28th, 2010. We agreed that it was one of the best experiences in our lives.

It was an experience successfully designed to help us believe even more strongly in ourselves and our fellow Americans. This increased belief didn’t just come from the powerful words of those on the stage. It also came from those who were there. At least 500,000 people gathered enthusiastically, cordially, and respectfully to hear and share in the positive message presented. Peacock emphasizes that is was a positive message without negative references.

This massive crowd was the friendliest I have ever experienced. At one point there was a concern that a small child had been lost in the crowd. A woman near us commented that this was the safest and most loving large crowd possible for a small lost child. I have no doubt that she was right. It was almost the cleanest and neatest crowd. The grounds were clean and the trash cans full after the event was over.

People came from all over. We met attendees from California, Arizona (they all love Jan Brewer), Texas, Colorado, South Dakota, Michigan, Ohio, Tennessee, Florida, North and South Carolina, Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania, New York and other states. We saw old people in wheelchairs, on crutches, using canes, and using each other to stand upright and keep going. Everyone offered help.

The message to people who believe in the principals put down on paper by our founding fathers did not disappoint any of us.

We heard about restoring the America as it was founded. Restoring faith in our free enterprise system, in self-reliance, in community. This was briefly contrasted at one point with rejecting transformation of America to something that is clearly just the opposite. We heard about our inalienable rights originating from God. That government has no right to take those away and cannot grant new inalienable rights. They can only originate from God.

We heard a lot about unity rather than division. The most significant reference to race during the day was that we all belong to one race – the human race.

We heard the granddaughter of Rev. Martin Luther King, Alveda King, say “God Bless America”.

We heard about the greatness and relevance of our founding fathers in our daily lives. We heard about acting with honor in all things. We heard about faith, hope and charity and never heard one word about anger, division or hate.

However, in watching most of the news media after the event, particularly MSNBC, we were hearing nothing positive about any of these things. Even Fox news reported as if they didn’t even have anyone there. One has to wonder what the motivation of the news media is in not reporting the positive nature of this event and instead going on a personal attack against Glenn Beck and others on the stage. Some of the attacks by MSNBC were simply outrageous and in stark contrast with the positive, uplifting nature of the event. They bore no resemblance to what we saw and experienced first hand.

The contrast is striking. Glenn Beck has high expectations of Americans and America. He knows that we will meet those expectations. He believes our inalienable rights come from God and that they were excellently defined by our founding fathers. He believes that wealth is not redistributed through government but through charitable organizations and churches. He believes that we should be asking God to bless America, not damn America.

The message from our president, supported strongly by the mainstream media, is depressing. He wants to make government larger and have it take more control over our lives. He wants us to pass on massive debt to our children and grandchildren. He says the message of our founding fathers is no longer relevant, that we must transform America and put more trust in a government that moves itself farther from God each year. He wants America to have only a participatory role in the world rather than a leading role. In short, his expectations of us are low.

For Peacock and Spouse the Restore Honor Rally was a transformational event. We will meet Glenn Beck’s expectations and will spread the word to others through our words and actions.

God Bless America. And God Bless Glenn Beck.

It is interesting to learn that many people are unaware that the United States Department of Justice recently dropped voter intimidation charges against the New Black Panther Party for their 2008 activities at polling locations. Not only do they not know that the DOJ dropped charges — they don’t know why!

In conversations with two intelligent associates recently Peacock heard one say, “There is no Black Panther Party. That was in the 60’s”. The other one said that she was “unaware of any activity recently surrounding Black Panther intimidation of voters. That is two year old news.” So, one did not know that the Black Panther party was alive and active. The other didn’t know that the DOJ wasn’t pursuing action against the Black Panther party because it refused to take action against blacks. Neither knew that a senior attorney in the DOJ resigned because of the racist decision by the DOJ leaders. It looks like justice may not be blind but the American public may be mostly blind because the mainstream media works overtime to keep them that way.

The reason that neither of these people knew about this is because it is not appearing at all in the mainstream media and certainly not on MSNBC!

Then there is the Congressman who was totally unaware that the DOJ had recently dropped the investigation of voter intimidation by the Black Panthers

The reason this congressman supposedly didn’t know is probably because his news sources come only from the mainstream media.

A quick search on Google confirms what is happening in the mainstream video media. If one puts in the search term “new black panther party voter intimidation” in the Google search bar there is page after page of coverage by Fox News. There is no coverage by the mainstream video media. There is essentially no coverage to very limited coverage by major newspapers.

The “Fourth Estate” of the press has abandoned its duty to the American public. News is no longer reported without bias. It is either analyzed or commented on while being presented. Or, if it doesn’t fit the political agenda of the owners of the news media it may not be reported at all. Freedom of the press is guaranteed under the very first amendment to the United States Constitution. Our founding fathers believed that a free press was essential to keep government honest. But that only works if the press is honest. Clearly it is not.

On November 4, 2009 we saw and heard the following on Keith Olbermann’s  MSNBC hour of delusion.

MUSTO: She would be on that money grubbing lecture circuit even faster, and colliding with Levi Strauss? What is his name, Levi Stubbs? Levi Johnston, that’s it. I just can’t remember these D-List names anymore. But they would surely collide somewhere between Carrie Prejean’s breasts. Or on the “Hollywood Squares.”

Then on November 5^th there was this.

OLBERMANN:  That‘s COUNTDOWN for this the 2,380^th day since the previous president declared mission accomplished in Iraq.  I‘m Keith Olbermann.  See you tomorrow night, I hope, with analysis of the self-destruction of Carrie Prejean.  Until then, good night and good luck.

On November 6^th Olbermann went on at length with extreme and sarcastic criticism of Carrie Prejean and what he called Carrie Prejean’s “sex tape”. There was no mention that this “sex tape” was a private communication between Prejean and her boyfriend when she was a young teenager. There was no mention that the tape was never intended for sale or public consumption at all. There was no mention of the betrayal of confidence committed by the boyfriend. Instead, it was a protracted period of gutter innuendo, sophomoric “humor”, and amazingly unprofessional conduct by a national newscaster. It was difficult to believe that MSNBC would permit this to continue for another evening. But there was Olbermann again on Monday November 9^th spending an amazing amount of his “news” period repeatedly criticizing Sarah Palin in the extreme.

This is the same man who tears conservatives and republicans to shreds while accusing them of sexist and racist. This is the same man who criticizes Fox News for being the Republican Party’s news network.

The truth is that Olbermann is simply a stooge of the Democratic party and employee of General Electric which is essentially owned by the White House. He is paid to throw rocks at conservatives and republicans and in the process can’t resist tearing down strong women with conservative values.

PeacockWatch understands that he will keep throwing rocks as long as he is paid to do so by MSNBC  even though he acts like a man without stones.

The number one problem that is causing the increasingly rapid destruction of our country is the corruption of our leaders in Washington. The corruption stems from the tremendous amount of power they have accumulated and the manner in which they work together to wield that power to keep themselves in office. This is not to say that everyone in government leadership is corrupt. However, there is such a prevalence of corruption that the honest legislators, judges and executives can do little to counteract the corrupting influences. It is a well known adage that “power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely”. In our society the major corrupting influence is money which is the source of power.

Power in our society comes from having a lot of money. If power corrupts and power comes from money then it follows that there is much more opportunity to be powerfully corrupt when one has a lot of money

The government has a lot of money. They get it from the citizens and they get more from the citizens than most of us realize. In fact, the government gets so much money from citizens that the base of power in this country has shifted from where the founding fathers wanted it to where they didn’t want it to be. It has moved from the citizens to the government.

Please take a few minutes to look at the list of taxes we pay as shown in the table at http://www.nowandfutures.com/taxes.html. This table shows that on average across the country citizens in 2005 paid about 54.4% of their income to various governments.

Frankly, this number should be increased by 7.65% to include the half of the Social Security and Medicaid tax that is paid by employers. A self-employed person pays this entire 15.3% themselves. That would bring the total tax percentage per average US citizen to 60%. And remember that you are taxed again on social security income once you start receiving it.

Even if we are off on the high side by 10% the government collects half of everything you earn. Chances are you never knew how high your tax rate really is because the government effectively hides from clear view all of its sources of income.

Our country was founded on the principle that the people are in charge of the government. For that to be true the people have to have more power than the government has. But over the years the amount of tax burden imposed by the government has continued to increase. Power in our society follows money. As our taxes have increased we have gradually been transferring the balance of power from the people to the government.

The first year in which there was a federal income tax was 1913 In that year the tax rate for people making $20,000 or less was 1%. The tax on people making over $500,000 was 7%. In the year 2000 the tax rate for people making $43,850 or less was 15%. The tax rate for people making over $288,350 was 39.6%.

Let’s take this apart a little bit. If I make $20,000 a year and get a 2% pay raise that means the government also gets a 2% pay raise based on my income. But the government keeps raising the tax rate on my income. This means the governments ‘pay raise’ over time is actually greater than my pay raise over time. If I can live within the pay raise that I get every year why can’t the government. Why do they need a pay raise that is greater than the pay raise that I receive? Perhaps a better question is ‘Why do I permit the government to do this?’

Let’s work the total effective tax burden calculation a different way.

The Fair Tax Organization (see www.fairtax.org ) claims that the federal Fair Tax rate is revenue neutral with current taxation methods at 23%. Please note that this is only the federal piece of the tax burden and doesn’t include all the sources of taxation show at http://www.nowandfutures.com/taxes.html . Assuming w were to move to a Fair Tax the state and local government will want to add in their own Fair Tax burdens totaling an average of 10%. Suffice to say that the total Fair Tax then would be somewhere north of 23% plus 10% for a total federal, state and local average Fair Tax rate of 33%. This brackets the professional estimate of average tax burden per citizen across the country at somewhere north of 33% and somewhere south of 60%. To be conservative let’s call the high end of the bracket 50%. That represents a huge daily transfer of personal wealth to the government. That transfer of wealth is a transfer of power. The greater the transfer of power the greater the tendency toward corruption.

On top of this 33% to 50% tax burden the government now wants to institute national government-run health care. The conservative estimates of the money each of us would pay to the government for this health care is about 6% of the average income for individuals across the country. This increases the amount of our salary we send to the government to somewhere between 39% and 56%.

Let’s go back to the opening paragraph of this article.

There are a lot of reasons to protest government-run health care. One of them is the reluctance of congress to participate in the plan themselves. That has to make anyone suspicious! This article adds a reason that PeacockWatch hasn’t heard raised to the appropriate level by any of the media except in some regard by Glenn Beck on Fox News. The reason is that our government has become corrupt because it controls so much money and has become addicted to that control. We hear about that corruption all the time. The people who are responsible for our Treasury and for tax regulation are tax evaders who are not investigated by the Congress. That is corruption! Pork is added to new congressional bills all the time and others in Congress support that pork because they know that they will need support for their own pork additions at some future point. This is wasteful and corrupt!

Our government is corrupt because it controls too much of our money. They spend this money to keep themselves in office and increase their personal power. Now they want to reallocate an average of 6% of our income from commercial enterprise to the government’s pocketbook. Is it because they want to feed their addiction?

The government is addicted to the money we work hard to earn. As they get more they want even more. The only way to stop this addiction, and the criminal activity that always accompanies addiction, is to take away the government’s financial drug. If we agree to feed the government’s addiction by paying them money for our health care then we are guilty of being enablers.

Let’s return power to where the founding father’s wanted it to be. Let’s return it to the people. The first step may be to reject government managed health care.
