The Big Lie is a propaganda technique. The expression was coined by Adolf Hitler in his 1925 autobiography Mein Kampf for a lie so “colossal” that no one would believe that someone “could have the impudence to distort the truth so infamously”.

In Peacock’s lifetime, there have been several Big Lies, but none as breath taking and as audacious as the Global Warming Scam. This is a lie so big, and so colossal, that it seeks to make us believe that Carbon Monoxide, the gas we exhale, and the gas that is essential for human life on this planet, is a substance that is a threat to mankind.

The pathology of this big lie was obvious from the start: simply put, the politics of Global Warming preceded the science of Global Warming. Although there was speculation going back to the 1880’s about man-made global warming going back to the 1880’s, it was generally ignored since by the middle of the next century there was little warming. In fact, the 1960’s and 1970’s were substantially cooler than previous decades that launched the theory of global cooling being the biggest threat to mankind.

Then, in 1979, Mrs. Margaret Thatcher became Prime Minister of the UK, and she elevated the hypothesis of global warming to the status of a major international policy issue. The issue gained enormous support after James Hansen, a physicist and the chief of NASA’s Goddard Institute for Space Studies, testified before the U.S. Senate in June 1988 that the full force of human-induced global warming had arrived. On this thin basis, work began on the Kyoto Agreement that was signed in 1997. The people who wrote the agreement stated that one of the major objectives of the protocol was to “level the economic playing field by transferring wealth from rich countries to poor countries.”

The governments of the Western world began to funnel billions of dollars in government funding to universities and government agencies to provide the science for the “fact” of Global Warming. Faced with the allure of these dangling grants, they did. The now infamous (and totally discredited) Hockey Stick graph arrived in 2003, and billions more continued to flow into organizations that could make the case.

The real curious thing is, that with all of this funding, no real science was ever done.

What was produced was computer model after computer model that tended to support the general theory. Only results that supported government’s preconceived notions of global warming were awarded with future grants.

Peacock has a good friend who in the late 1987 was called upon The National Center for Atmospheric Research near Boulder, Colorado. They were located in a very nice building designed by IM Pei in the 60’s. Although NCAR at the time was involved more in short term weather forecasting, there was a group studying long term climate change (the focus was still on cooling, not warming. Jimmy Carter had a Presidential Task force studying global cooling!) that had requested assistance. When he first called on this group, he had great difficulty in finding them. After asking person after person, he finally found them in a small, dusty basement office. At the time, they did not even have their own computers, but were begging for computing time from the University of Colorado. Today, these same people are bringing in hundreds of millions of dollars in research grants, have the top floor corner offices in the building, and some of the biggest supercomputers in the world to run their simulations. Better yet, they are seen rock stars, traveling the globe, with rapt audiences at their feet.

In a previous article, The Buck Stops…Where?, PeacockWatch, October, 6, 2009, Peacock has postured that President Obama is not the decision maker of his administration, but merely a talking head for some one else’s political philosophy and agenda.  Peacock stopped short of speculating on who this someone might be.

In the article, the case was made that President Obama has outsourced all of the decisions of his administration to Congress, a group of left wing Czars, and some cabinet members.  (Last week, Attorney General announced HIS decision to try the 911 terrorist in this country, and made it clear that President Obama did not make the decision, nor did he discuss with him.)

This is not opinion or guess work.  The facts speak for themselves.  President Obama has been only a cheerleading by-stander in all of the significant events of his administration.

This having been said, the thought of all of these people running off and making unilateral decisions is a non-starter.  It would quickly lead to anarchy.  There must be some command and control structure, and some ultimate decision maker if not President Obama.

Now comes a theory, first espoused by John Bolton, the former U.S. Ambassador to the U.N., that President Baraq Hussein Obama is in reality the first “Post-American” president.  The inference here is not that he is the first President of the World, but the first president that the world has conspired to put in place in our country.

If the actions of this administration do not constitute a recipe for the destruction and diminishment of our country and a corresponding road to Socialism, Peacock is at a loss to know what would be.

There is no smoking gun here, no wired conversations, no pilfered e-mails, no hard evidence at all.  All we can do, and indeed all we need to do, is to look at the empirical evidence that becomes more massive each day.  Every cause he has championed, and every apology he has made, has been designed for the financial destruction of this country, and the resulting diminishment of its role on the world stage.  He has done nothing to lift this country up, and everything to drag it down. To wit:

—        The Trillion-dollar bailout package was not an economic, job creating package, but a brazen payback to his constituency (unions, environmentalist, trial lawyers, Wall Street, and community organizing groups, to mention just a few.)

—        The government takeover of the automotive industry and the trampling of the rights of bondholders was another blatant move to socialism.  The CEO of General Motors was sacked, and a residual share of the company given to the unions.  Chrysler was literally given for gratis to FIAT and the unions.

—        The Cap and Trade bill, a tax on the air we exhale, would triple the cost of fossil fuels, and be a tremendous hit to an already struggling economy.  (The estimate from Spain is that for every green job that is created, 2.2 old economy jobs are destroyed.)  If taken to the extreme that this administration wants to take it, it will also result in the loss of U.S. sovereignty.

—        The Healthcare Reform bill is an unprecedented government take-over of 17% of our economy.  Estimated at almost one Trillion dollars via budgeting gimmickry and smoke and mirrors accounting, this program would will cost multiples of the estimate and result in the destruction of the best healthcare system in the world.  It will invariably result in rationing, and direct government control over one of the most important things we have, our lives.

—        All of this domestic spending will result in higher taxes (over five separate tax increases are on the table, not including the expiration of the Bush tax cuts in 2010.)  We learned from the Great Depression that raising taxes in a period of economic decline produces a deeper recession.  History shows that increasing taxes results in less total taxes being collected, and this comes at a time when our national debt is $12 Trillion dollars and steeply climbing.

—        The Foreign Policy of this Administration has been one of throwing our allies off the bus and apologizing to our enemies, while inappropriately bowing to European, Middle East, and Asian dictators and emperors.  All of this has been coupled with a general denial of American Exceptionalism.

—        The Administration is now waffling on the war in Afghanistan, their self-described “War of Necessity”.  Further, we are not at war with terrorism, this is only a “Overseas Contingency Action”.  Moreover, as mentioned previously, we will now grant terrorists access to our criminal courts, giving them all of the protections of a U.S. citizen under our Constitution.

If the actions of this administration do not constitute a recipe for the destruction and diminishment of our country and a corresponding road to Socialism, Peacock is at a loss to know what would be.  George Soros has recently said, “Our economy is broke.  We just do not recognize it yet.  Now is the time to replace it with something else.”

When the Cold War ended, the world was set somewhat adrift.  From the American perspective, it was “We won! How can we spend the peace dividend?”  Many other countries were not as sanguine.  For over fifty years, the rest of the world took some comfort in the standoff between the two major superpowers, and many were able to tweak their policies to play one power off against the other for foreign aid.  Overnight, the game changed.  Now the world was facing a planet with only one superpower, and the world was not comfortable with the situation.

Moreover, many ideologues were also set adrift.  What about all of those dedicated Marxists in the Soviet Union and around the world?  Did they just say, “Ah, shucks, we lost.  Let us all be capitalists?”

An ancient Chinese proverb states that, “It is good to strike the serpent’s head with your enemy’s hand”, or in Arabic: “The enemy of my enemy is my friend”.  From diverse groups such as radical Islam, to European and Russian Marxists, and on to the United Nations, there are many dedicated people, countries, and organizations that would like to see the playing field leveled.  They may have different and conflicting causes, but a diminished United States that would submit to a World Government under the auspices of the United Nations, would serve all of their purposes.

With the dedication of these groups, along with George Soros’s billions, a manufactured financial meltdown, an in-the-tank liberal media, and a much-maligned Bush Administration, getting the first Post-American President elected was probably child’s play.

So then, who is the decision maker?  Peacock’s guess is that the decision maker, or makers, reside in the same command and control structure that got President Obama elected.
