The American republic is dead. Murdered at the hand of those who we the people elected to nurture it and make it strong. The murder has been assisted by the media whose responsibility is to make sure that those elected are acting as proper representatives to the public.
Whether or not one agrees with the health bill that is currently going through Congress it is clear that the tactics used to gain votes are nothing less than legalized bribery and intense secret back office intrigue. Closed door sessions that lock out the media and half of the legislature simply because they are from a different party smack of collusion to reach a predetermined objective regardless of the opinion of others in the republic. Rampant bribes for votes seem to be the order of the day. The most notable, of course, being the $300 million bribe to the State of Louisiana which even the Republican Governor of that state failed to protest.
Decisions in our Republic are now made along the lines of “one dollar, one vote”.
In today’s government, money is powerful. Votes aren’t. Decisions in our Republic are now made along the lines of “one dollar, one vote”. The voting booth is dead. No matter what a candidate promises when running for election they are allowed under the republican form of government to ignore the voter when they get to office. And, in all probability, they will ignore the voter. They will ignore the voter because each of us as individuals and even as groups of constituents, don’t have enough money to match the “influence” of major corporations or lobbyist organizations.
The government has murdered the American Republic. The media, for the most part, has assisted by becoming the spokespeople for the government rather than the watchdog. A recent Pew research poll shows all but one media organization slanting toward support of the incumbent party. The one media organization that tilts the other direction is shown as strongly tilted in that direction. Why is the media even suspected, much less very clearly shown, to be in favor of one political party or the other? That isn’t the media’s job. However, almost every media organization is owned by a conglomerate company whose interests are served by the political party they support.
This may not be a murder of the American republic; it may be a suicide.
One of the members of PeacockWatch has observed that this may not be a murder of the American republic; it may be a suicide. That observation makes sense. Even though voter turnout in the last election was higher than usual it was still a depressingly small proportion of the voting population. Our nation is faced with issues that affect every single last member of our country whether a voter or non-voter. These issues which are associated with potential economic collapse, major changes in our health care, and a worldwide war against an enemy determined to destroy our country are at least as important as any we have ever faced since the inception of our nation. These decisions are, without any exaggeration, life or death decisions for us and for our descendents. Failure to participate in the voting process is a form of mass suicide.
Whether it is a murder or a mass suicide the American republic is essentially dead. Money, not the vote, is the major political currency. Corporations, lobbyists and large special interests overwhelm the individual voter. Elected officials bribe each other with financial favors after they themselves are bribed with favors from rich influencers who apparently can’t be refused.
Richard Cloward and Frances Piven have essentially won. (“The Weight of the Poor: A Strategy to End Poverty”). Their socialist agenda is almost in full play. They have a champion in our President who is intent of redistribution of wealth. They finally have a President who has surrounded himself with socialists. The collapse they put forth a plan for has begun.
Americans are faced with an immediate choice. Perhaps the corpse is not so cold that it can’t be revived. But resuscitation will take the breath of every living voter. We the people must go to the voting booth in such large numbers that it will clog the highways and byways of every township, small village and metropolis in our nation. It is now that we must vote like we have never voted before. If we don’t, then those who don’t vote will have given up every right to complain. Given the importance of the situation, given the life or death political struggle of our nation, it is perhaps not unreasonable to say that anyone who doesn’t vote in the next couple of years has given up the right to citizenship because their inaction is, in effect, an assist in the suicide of our republic.
Let’s summarize the threats. Socialists in the legislature and in the White House want to replace our republic with socialism. Terrorists in the Islamic world want to destroy Christianity and our nation. Special financial interests want to make themselves rich and powerful through legalized bribes of our elected officials. All of these threats, in one way or another, are working together to destroy our republican form of government.
We can stop these threats only if we vote. We can show our seriousness as voters by asking for a Constitutional Convention which will breathe life into the almost cold corpse of our American republic. A Constitutional Convention that will replace our current corrupt, weak and essentially dead republic with a new and vibrant country ruled by the voter.
Perhaps we can breathe life into this corpse.

There has never been legislation of this magnitude that has passed the legislature in this country with such a partisian vote and against the wishes of the majority of the people. It there is any bright spot to be found, this is also suicide for the Democratic Party, who are owned, lock, stock, and barrel by the extreme left wing of the party.
