NBC, Racism, and Freedom of Speech

Written by PeacockWatch on September 17, 2009.

On his September 16th show, Keith Olbermann added his voice to the shrill top-down NBC chorus of “racism” currently being hummed by the likes of Jimmy Carter, Nancy Peloci, and other far-left liberals.

Obermann spent almost the entire show proclaiming that any opposition to President Obama’s agenda is motivated by racism. True to form, all of Obermann’s evidence was, of course, anecodotal and absent any facts.

Is it a coincidence that the volume has simultaneously been turned up on racism issues in all corners of the liberal wing of the democratic party and its supporters?

No, it isn’t a coincidence. This is a broad coordinated attack with a specific agenda and a large target in mind.

On Thursday, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi tried to draw an analogy between opposition to Obama’s socialist policies to the 1970’s violence in San Franciso over gay rights when two city officials were killed by a lone gunman.

Who or what is the target of these unfounded assertions about racism?

You’ve probably already guessed: the First Amendment and our Freedom of Speech.

Here’s why and how they hope to stifle our freedom of speech.

Obama and the Democrats have had severe setbacks in the past month. Townhall meetings and outraged citizens (average people, not terrorists) were widely televised for all America to see. Van Jones, an avowed communist, was exposed and forced to resign by use of his own thoughts, deeds, and words. Obama’s ratings have fallen precipitously and the health care debate is rapidly turning against them. Exposure of Acorn’s misdeeds by BigGoverment.com and broad coverage of the story by Fox News and talk radio (and lack of coverage by the mainstream media) have created a public relations nightmare for Obama and the Democrats.

Most importantly, total legislative and executive control by Democrats may be a thing of the past after the 2010 election. Polling trends must be scary for them.

Remember what Rahm Emmanuel, White House Chief of Staff, said about a crisis? “You never want a serious crisis to go to waste. And what I mean by that is an opportunity to do things you think you could not do before.”

Would a national civil rights crisis, amplified by the MSM and propped up by outraged astroturf liberals, be serious enough to give them the opportunity to do things they couldn’t otherwise do?

The pieces are now in place for a bold move to exert further government control over our lives.

Cass Sunstein, the newly appointed regulatory czar, wrote in his 1993 book ,”The Partial Constitution,” that he favors the “fairness doctrine,” which requires broadcasters to present controversial issues of public importance in a manner the government deems “equitable and balanced.”

The Fairness Doctrine or something similar has to be forefront in their minds.

Would they really try to gag Fox News and talk radio by using a trumped up emergency?

If you don’t think so, think again. Look at the damage they’ve already done to the US and our economy with their crisis-opportunity strategy.

The Democrats will do anything to remain in power.
